Learn the Lingo of Foreign Languages
Learning foreign languages is more important than ever with the increasing globalization of the economy. Although it is easiest to learn a foreign language while still a young child, there are a multitude of resources and techniques to help the adult language lover.
The first thing to do is to decide upon the preferred language of study. Romance languages are always helpful; Spanish is one of the fastest-growing languages in the United States today. Portuguese is spoken not only in Portugal, but also in Brazil, Macau and Cape Verde. French is often called the world's most romantic language, although the accent is a challenge for many non-natives. Romance languages are the easiest for native English speakers, both for notating and pronunciation.
While non-Romance languages are a challenge, they are also quite useful. Arabic, Urdu, Tagalog, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Japanese are popular choices for those who wish to learn a non-Romance language. A wonderful world of international languages awaits the interested student.
